Dr Rebecca Spicer

I have trained in paediatric nephrology and paediatrics in the UK, North America and across three states in Australia. I am currently a consultant paediatric nephrologist at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

Originally from the UK, I undertook my medical degree at the University of Bristol, and was awarded honours. I also received the university prize for paediatrics. I undertook my fellowship in paediatric nephrology at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. I obtained a masters in clinical epidemiology from the University of Toronto, Canada.

I am experienced in managing infants, children and adolescents with the whole range of acute and chronic kidney problems including:

  • Urinary tract infections
  • Vesicoureteric reflux
  • Blood in the urine (Haematuria)
  • Protein in the urine (Proteinuria)
  • Nephrotic syndrome
  • Congenital abnormalities of the kidney and urinary tract
  • High blood pressure
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Fluid and electrolyte disorders
  • Kidney stones
  • Glomerulonephritis
  • Complement-mediated renal diseases
  • Hereditary renal disease

My particular clinical interests include kidney transplantation, complement mediated disorders, IgA nephropathy and hypertension.
